Sashiko is a Japanese Mending and Embroidery practice.

A simple running stitch creates bold, geometric patterns on textiles.

The abstract designs are inspired by nature, culture, and architecture.

This workshop will explore the decorative aspects of the craft. Participants will learn how to draw out grids, braid thread, and use Sashiko "small stabs" to stitch patterns of their choice onto sampler squares. The hand-stitched squares can easily be made into a patch, pocket, coaster, sachet, or pin cushion.

Choose from a variety of traditional Sashiko patterns that suit your design aesthetic and stitching comfort level: tiny plus signs, linked steps, star stitch, ocean waves, or linked treasures.

All skill levels are welcome!
