NALS ceramics

Functional beauty,
crafted for everyday use

Nancy Shotola, the artist behind Nals Ceramics, has been working in clay for over 40 years. Based in Maine, she creates functional pieces in high-fire porcelain, uniting enduring craftsmanship with a contemporary sensibility.

Her glazing process emphasizes the dynamic interaction of overlapping glazes and the intricate patterns achieved through a wax resist technique. Each vessel is carefully thrown to achieve perfect balance in weight, with walls of even thickness that reveal her outstanding craftsmanship. At the same time, subtle imperfections remain, adding a distinctive human touch and celebrating the handmade nature of her work.

Unlike production pottery, Nancy makes each piece as an individual work of art. This thoughtful, unhurried process means every bowl, cup, or plate carries its own personality. Although similar in design, each is truly one of a kind.

Designed to be both beautiful and purposeful, these pieces are dishwasher safe and made for everyday use.
